The device is not connected to the power adapter and the device does not hold the charge.

When the adapter is connected with the device check to see if the device is charging on the monitor. Verify the adapter charge light is on and the adapter is plugged in, if so the adapter is faulty or not an appropriate adapter for the device. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

The computer runs normally when connected to the power adapter. However if the device is disconnected from the power adapter the device will either lose battery charge quickly or immediately powers off the battery is faulty. Replace the battery using this guide.

Device may run slow or shut off without warning while you are working, or is hot to the touch.

The easiest and usually most important fix for an overheating laptop is clearing the fan vents of debris. Dirt, dust, and debris clog the vents over time and will prevent the fans from blowing hot air out of the laptop causing it to overheat. This can be resolved by cleaning the exhaust vents with a vacuum and blowing dust off of the fans with compressed air. Access your cooling fans with this guide.

Thermal paste allows heat to transfer quickly and is applied to computer components that are more at risk for overheating such as the CPU. If clearing the fans and vents of dust did not resolve overheating, follow this guide to apply fresh thermal paste to your CPU.

The device freezes or stops at blue or black screen, or randomly restarts.

Certain errors or programs crashing unexpectedly or other unlisted errors can cause the computer screen to become unresponsive. Depending on the operating system (Windows version) currently installed on the device follow this guide.

Check the device temperature to see if the device is running too hot or warm. If the device is warm the fan may not be running properly, and the device will forcibly shut down to prevent damage to the computer. If the fan is not running properly follow this guide to replace the fan.

Computer does not perform up to full potential.

The device might actually be infected with viruses from spam email or exploring on to unsecured websites. Try to run a security scan or anti-virus program to detect and remove any potential malware.

Immediately after booting the computer runs fine, but after running for some time it gets progressively slower to the point that it’s barely usable. This could be a sign of damaged RAM, which can be replaced by following this guide.

Common symptoms of a faulty motherboard are: the computer will turn on, but Windows will not load, computer starting to boot but immediately shutting down, and very frequent “blue screens of death.” The motherboard may be faulty or not up to par with current technology updates and requirements. Try replacing the motherboard with a more up-to-date motherboard with qualified specs.

Device will shut off or display error messages while attempting to transport files from one area to another.

If attempting to move files from one folder to another produces frequent error messages , first try moving the devices to another folder and see if the same error is given. If not, it may be a minor fault in the hard drive and may be fixable by running Windows tools such as “disk defragmenter” or “check disk.” If files fail to move to another location, make sure that the user has authority to write files in the selected folder. If so, it could indicate more serious hard drive damage and you should consider replacing the hard drive.

The device’s temporary memory may be damaged, which can cause files to be rewritten improperly when they’re moved. If the device is causing moving files, but writing them incorrectly or corrupting them when they are moved, and causing frequent blue screens of death, consider replacing the RAM.
