Laptop either notifies of overheating or computer itself is very hot.

If all the fans are working, dust may have become trapped underneath the fans insulating the heat sync, causing the laptop to overheat. Take an air compressor and blow out all the vents. Sony Vaio won’t start after pressing power button.

Battery drains with use faster than company expected battery life.

Sometimes the charging cord might either be broken or not compatible with the laptop. If charging while using the computer, the cord might not be able to charge the device while it is on and operating. Try to charge the laptop when it is completely off. If the laptop gets a charge while turned off, it could be the cord which cannot charge the laptop that is in use. Try purchasing another charging cord.

The problem could just be a faulty battery that won’t receive or hold any charge, in that case try replacing the battery with a new one. You can find how to replace the battery yourself here.

The laptop just could have connectivity issues, and it could just need a hardware (which includes the battery) reset. In order to do this, remove the battery and charging cord from the port, press and hold the power button for about twenty seconds, then replace the battery and the charger and power the laptop on. That reset clears the hardware and can bring the battery and its connections back to life.

Sony Vaio laptops have a power management software that can be downloaded and viewed from the computer. This program helps users to utilize all of their battery functions. In this program you can change settings to use less battery life such as screen brightness or background programs. In this management system you can also monitor your battery use and health. To access this system, click start and search “vaio control center”, and under the “power management” option, select “battery”. This opens a lot of settings that you can alter to your liking to get the most out of your battery.

Notifications of either slow connection or no wifi, won’t open internet.

Make sure your wifi router is on and producing a signal.

Check the wireless button located on the bottom left portion of the laptop. Slide the button from the OFF position, left, to the On position, right.

Locate the wifi icon on the bottom right corner the screen. Open the window and select network of your choice. Enter the password of the desired network and it should connect.

Your laptop does not load the Operating System and instead takes you to an error message.

When the user shuts off the laptop by pressing the power button instead of initiating the shutdown sequence through the windows system, there may be causing your hard drive to have an error or damage. To resolve this problem, you need to determine whether your hard drive has an error with your system or has physical damage on your hard drive. For system error, you need to get a Windows DVD for the version that you have. Please note that the specific version does not matter, only that it is for Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8. Boot to the DVD, and choose “Repair your computer,” then click next. On this screen, pick “Startup Repair” and let it run.
