An awesome team of students from our education program made this wiki.

The audio goes in and out in or around the headset because the wire may not be secure which can cause this underlying problem.

If the wire is secure and runs from the headset to your audio device input then audio should be heard if the volume is up. If the wire is not secure to either input, this can cause several different audio distortions. If the wire seems broken in any way, order a replacement.

If Audio is distorted while using the Steelseries engine, check issues on the program.  There are multiple different sound mixers that can affect audio, check each one to make sure none of them are turned off or messed up.

There is no sound from the microphone or the microphone is not detected on the device. This can happen when the mute button is disrupted or shifted out of place.

There is a mute button on the back left ear cup. When muted the button is pressed down all the way, when unmuted the button sticks out with an orange ring exposed. When connected to a device using the USB Chatmix dial the microphone will light up red if the mic is on and will have no light if it is muted. If using an audio jack connection there will be no LEDs to indicate if it is muted or not. To figure out if it is muted look at the mute button on the back of the headset.

The headset won’t connect to a device. This can happen due to the cord getting unplugged or the headset may not be compatible with the device.

Ensure that the cord runs from the headset input to the device input. If the headset is not detected with the device, the headset may not be compatible with this device. If there is a wiring issue, order a replacement.

The lights on the headset won’t light up which can be caused due to the underlying problem of tight modules under the earmuff of the headset.

If the lights on the headset are not lighting up, it may be a module issue. The modules are located inside the earmuff part of the headset. Unscrew the headset to see if the modules are loose and tighten them if so.

The audio pops or crackles on and off. Sound mixer issues on the program can cause this.

Refer to Distorted Audio-Headset Jack for instructions.
