  • Always make sure your device is completely powered off before performing repairs.
  • Remove the two 4 mm Phillips head screws at the top of the device.

  • Carefully remove the back cover by using a plastic opening tool, moving all the way around the perimeter of the tablet.
  • Set the back cover aside.
  • The speakers are attached to the inside back cover, and are connected by wires to the motherboard of the tablet. Be careful not to rip these free when removing the back.

  • Locate the red and black wires that connect the battery to the motherboard.
  • Carefully peel away the tape that keeps the wires secured to the back of the display screen.

  • Be sure to use tweezers when near the soldering iron because it is hot.
  • Soften the old solder by heating it with the soldering tool, so that the wires can be removed with tweezers.

  • Heat up the battery with the iOpener Heat tool in order to soften the adhesive that keeps the battery in place.
  • The iOpener Heat tool gets very hot, so be careful that you don’t burn yourself.

  • Remove the battery from the device with the plastic opening tool.
  • It may be difficult to remove so try reheating the iOpener and don’t be afraid to use a good amount of force.
