The screen of the laptop does not turn on or display anything, even though the computer is turned on.
The display auto off may have gone into effect, press any key to activate the screen. If that does not work, the display may be set for an external monitor. Try pressing Fn and F5 simultaneously to change the display setting, if this does not work, press Fn and F5 simultaneously again to return to the original setting.
The display may not be on due to the instant password feature. Press the Fn and F1 keys simultaneously, type in your registered password, and press Enter. The screen will reactivate. If the screen still does not turn on, refer to this guide in order to replace the screen.
The laptop will not turn on, and shows no signs of any power.
Remove battery, plug in the power adapter (charger), and attempt to turn on the computer. If the computer does not turn on, then the power adapter is broken. Consider buying a new adapter.
Turn your computer over and ensure battery is in place. Next, turn your computer back over, and ensure the power adapter plugged in. Allow the battery to charge for a few minutes, and unplug the power adapter. If the computer does not turn on when not connected to the power adapter, then there is a problem with the battery. The disk drive fails to open or read CD’s or DVD’s.
Make sure your laptop is charged and plugged in. Once that is done check to see if anything is blocking the disk drive. If that’s the case remove the blockage. If it still fails to open, then it is broken. Follow this guide to replace the disk drive.
If the disk drive won’t read a disk, use a can of compressed air and blow into the disk drive from roughly six inches away. If after doing this a disk won’t be read, follow this guide , as your drive may be broken.
The computer powers on, but cannot load the operating system and only shows an error message.
If the computer fails to boot when powering on, crashes during normal use, or crashes while running multiple programs, there may be an issue with your RAM. The RAM currently installed may be faulty, or you may need more RAM in your computer. You will need to replace the RAM following this guide .
There may be an issue with the hard drive currently installed in your computer. Hard drive errors can occur from powering off the computer physically by pushing the button or removing the battery, without initiating the shutdown through the operating system. To attempt to correct the issue, first get a Windows DVD for the version of Windows currently installed on your computer. The specific version number does not matter, only that the DVD is for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, etc. Insert and run the DVD and choose “Repair your computer”, then click next. Now click “Startup Repair” and allow it to run. When it is completed, your computer should boot correctly. If it does not, you will need to replace your hard drive .
