I pressed the power button to turn it on, but it fails to start up.
Be sure to check that your computer is plugged in; if not, plug it in then press the power button to see if it turns on.
If the computer won’t turn on without the charger plugged in, plug the charger in, wait a moment, and then press the power button. If it still does not turn on, the charger may be broken and you should replace the charger.
Ensure that the charger is plugged into the wall and the computer. If the computer won’t charge, the battery will need to be replaced. Replace it using this guide.
If the charger and battery are in good shape and the computer still does not turn on, the motherboard may be faulty. To replace the motherboard, follow this guide..
My laptop is turned on, but I cannot see anything on the screen, regardless of any buttons I press.
Ensure that the computer is powered on by holding down the on button and listening for the boot-up noise. You can also check to see if your computer is on by looking at the indicator lights on the base of the computer. If they are glowing the computer is on. Assuming that the device is on and the screen is still not functioning you may have other issues with the computer screen.
On your laptop, the F5 and F6 buttons change the brightness. To raise the brightness, hold the Fn key and the F7 key simultaneously until an acceptable brightness level is achieved. If this does not work, your buttons or hardware may be broken.
If pressing any button or toggling the trackpad mouse doesn’t immediately exit Sleep Mode, then you may be frozen, so hold the power button for about 20 seconds to shut the laptop off and then power back on. This should exit Sleep Mode, but if it restarts still in Sleep Mode, you may have an issue with the power or a glitch in the software.
If none of the above troubleshooting solutions succeed in solving this problem, there may be an issue with the screen. This problem can be solved by replacing the screen with a new one. Replace the screen on your computer using this guide.
The laptop feels extremely hot upon touch and powers down, after signaling it has critical heating levels.
Try cleaning between your heatsink and cooling fan; by using the hose of a vacuum, you may be able to clear out enough of the dust that is trapped, allowing the heatsink to stop overheating the fan. If there is too much debris, you may need to replace the heatsink of the laptop.
Try to place your computer on a stand, rather than a flat, hard surface to avoid overheating. You may also try to direct a fan towards the back of the laptop to cool it down. If the computer is still overheating, the cooling fan will need to be replaced. Replace the cooling fan using this guide.
The laptop refuses to establish an internet connection.
Click on your wifi settings and see if it is turned on. If not, turn wifi on. If it is, make sure that it is properly connected to your wireless router. If it is and it still is not connected to wifi, check the router.
Determine how far away from your wireless connection you are. You can do so by clicking on the icon for wifi, and it will determine the signal strength of the connection. If the strength is low, you may be too far away. Try moving closer and see if the network will connect.
Check your wireless router; if connected, try disconnecting for a few seconds to one minute and then reconnecting. Once complete, check the status of your wifi connection on your computer. If it is connected and you still are not connecting to wifi, try to delete the wifi on your computer and reopen it once more. If not, you may have router problems.
If none of the above troubleshooting solutions fixed your wireless connectivity, it may be an issue with your wireless drivers. Reinstall your wireless drivers by downloading the wireless drivers from Toshiba here and then installing them.

The laptop is connected to the internet, but any programs or websites I load take exceptionally long to open.
Check how many programs that you currently have running. If there seem to be an excessive amount open, close out all tabs and applications, then restart your computer. Upon restarting, see if your computer runs any faster. If the problem is alleviated, then don’t run so many applications at once. If not, you could have a virus or not enough RAM space.
There are many viruses that can slow down your laptop. Try running a diagnostic for viruses. If there are any viruses present, they will be detected and can be cleared from your computer. If not, there may be another issue.
If your computer is slow when running programs, your computer may not be enough RAM. This problem can be solved by getting RAM for your computer. To replace the RAM in your computer follow this guide.
No matter what button is pressed, the touchpad will not work.
If your computer is frozen the touchpad will not be responsive. You can check to see if your computer is frozen by trying to scroll with the arrow keys or hitting caps lock and seeing if it lights up. If the computer is unresponsive, “Frozen,” restart the computer to fix the issue.
You may have disabled the touchpad on the computer by accident. Hit “fn+F9” on the keyboard, this will re-enable the use of the touchpad if you had accidentally turned it off. If this does not solve the problem, you may have another issue.
If the touchpad is enabled and the computer is not frozen, but it is still unresponsive, the touchpad driver may need to be updated. To update/reinstall the touchpad driver visit the Toshiba website with this link.
If none of the above troubleshooting solutions succeed in solving this problem, there may be an issue with the touchpad itself. This problem can be solved by replacing the touchpad with a new one or plugging in a mouse.
“My CD drive will not open to allow me to put the CD in or the CD is in the drive, but will not play.”
If the CD drive is not functioning properly and the computer is not frozen or off, but is still not working, the CD drive driver may need to be updated. To update/reinstall the CD drive driver visit the Toshiba website with this link.
If none of the above troubleshooting solutions succeed in solving this problem, there may be an issue with the CD drive itself. This problem can be solved by replacing the touchpad with a new one. To replace the CD drive in your computer follow this Guide.
