The open tray button is pressed and the tray does not open.

If there is something caught in it, you can try prying open the door with a pencil or screwdriver and attempt to remove whatever might be in it with tweezers or a similar prying tool.

If you can see that the door flap is broken or is falling out of its hinge, you should replace it using our repair guide.

If the DVD tray won’t open there may be problems with the door spring. Sometimes the opening mechanism gets something caught in it or breaks. If the spring is broken you should replace it using our repair guide.

If you can’t see anything obstructing the door way, there may be a problem with a mechanism in the disc drive. If this is the case you will have to replace the disc drive.

If you have replaced the disc drive and the tray still won’t open, there may be a problem with the inverter board sending the signal to the disc drive. If this is the case you may have to replace the inverter board.

You have inserted a DVD and the player indicates that there is no DVD in the device.

If the metallic side of the disc is facing up and the side with the picture is facing down on the tray, you have inserted the disc upside down. The DVD player won’t be able to read this but there is a simple solution. Just put the metallic side facing down and the picture side facing up.

Look on the bottom of your DVD and if there are extensive scratches on it it may be the cause for why the DVD won’t read the player. It may be possible to clean your disc to remove some of the smudges.

If your DVD player’s disc drive is bad, it will not read discs when you insert them. It may be a problem with the disc reader. In this case replace the disc drive with a new one.

You have pressed the power button and the device does not boot up.

Check to make sure that the DVD player is plugged into an outlet. The device needs this connection to work.

To check to see if the fuse has blown in the DVD player follow the steps to remove the top panel. You may see the fuse charred and burnt. If this is the case you will have to replace the fuse.

First, check to see if there are any cuts or broken ends on the power cord. It could be that the power cord is in a condition where it doesn’t allow current to flow to the DVD player. If this is the case you will have to buy a replacement cord online, and follow our instructions on replacing the cord.

There could be a problem with the power inverter board. The necessary hardware may not be functioning correctly and thus isn’t supplying power to the necessary parts within the DVD player. If this is the case you will need to replace the inverter board.

You smell the scent of burnt or melting plastic coming from the DVD player.

This rarely ever happens but should it happen it is important that you remove the DVD player from the power source immediately.

If you open up the top panel and see burn/char marks on the motherboard you will have to replace the motherboard.

If you open up the top panel and see burn/char marks on the inverter board you will have to replace the inverter board.
