When you put the phone on the base, the charging light does not illuminate.

  • Check if battery is in phone

Remove back from handset and check to see if wires from battery are plugged into the phone correctly.

  • Put phone on charging station

Place your phone on the charging station and see if the light illuminates. If the light illuminates then your phone is charging. If the light does not illuminate, proceed to the next step.

  • Be sure AC adapter is plugged into wall outlet

Make sure your using the proper AC adapter for your phone and make sure that the AC adapter is plugged into the wall outlet and that you have a good connections. Now with your phone on the charging station, check if the light illuminates. If the light does not illuminate, proceed to the next step.

  • Try different outlet

You may need to try another outlet in your home to eliminate this possibility as an issue. Once you have plugged in the base unit to a different outlet, place your phone on the charging station and check if the light illuminates. If the light does not illuminate, proceed to the next step.

  • Be sure charging contacts on handset and base are clear

Check to see if the contact points on the phone are not dirty and are making a good connection from the base to the handheld phone. Once you have done this, place your phone on the charging station and check if the light illuminates. If the light does not illuminate, proceed to the next step.

  • Replace battery

If the previous steps have failed to power the unit, replace the battery. To replace the battery, refer to the battery repair guideline.

The light will illuminate when the phone is on the charging station, but when you dial a number the phone does not make noise when keys are pressed.

  • Check if phone jack is plugged into the wall and base

Underneath the charging station there should be a spot to connect the phone line cord. Make sure that this cord is securely in place and also make sure that the cord is securely connected to the wall. If the problem persists, continue to the next step.

  • Try a different phone on the same jack

Find another phone and plug it into the same phone line cord. See if you receive a dial tone with the other phone. If you receive a dial tone, there is something wrong with your UnidenEXP 371. Please proceed to the dis-assembly guide. If you still do not receive a dial tone after attempting to use a different phone, please proceed to the next step.

  • Try new wire

You may need a new phone line wire. Find another phone line wire and try it on both of the phones, making sure you have a good connection. If your Uniden EXP371 does not have a dial tone but the other phone does, then please proceed to the dis-assembly guide. If you do not receive a dial tone on both phones, please contact your phone service provider.

  • Have someone call you to see the calls are going through

Another option may be to attempt to have someone call you from another phone.

You push down the dial pad buttons and they get stuck when they are pressed down.

  • Use compressed air duster to try to remove debris from under the keys

Before you disassemble your phone, make sure that there isn’t any dirt or other substance under the dial pad that would cause you keys to stick. If your keys are dirty, you may use a pin or a toothpick to loosen up the dirt from between the buttons. You may also take a clean sanitizing wipe and clean you phone. Try to get in between the buttons as best as possible. You may also use a compressed air gas duster to try to get the dirt out from under the keys. If the problem persists, refer to the dis-assembly guide.

  • Note* *** Do not use anything that is too wet because the water or liquid may damage the internals of the handset.

After cleaning your phone, press the buttons and listen for tones when the buttons are pressed. If your buttons still do not work refer to the dis-assembly guide. You may need to further clean the inside of the phone or replace the dial pad.

Your antenna is broken off of the phone because it was dropped.

  • Refer to dis-assembly guide

If the antenna is broken your phone is repairable. Please refer to the repair manual for instructions on repairing the antenna.

You dial a number or answer a phone call but you cannot hear someone on the other end of the line.

  • Press “V” button to raise volume

If you experience trouble hearing from the phone, first try to press the volume button labeled “V” on the handheld phone until you reach the desired volume. If this does not work please refer to the next step.

  • Be sure phone has a full charge

Place your phone on the charging station and make sure that it has enough charge to carry out a phone call.

  • Get closer to the base

You may need to get closer to the base with the handset so that you have a good signal to carry out a phone call.
