A circuit breaker is a hardware device that activates when the current drawn from the power exceeds a set level. Its purpose is to prevent damage to electrically powered equipment in the event of a power surge or electrical malfunction. If the breaker is tripped, a switch is turned off to prevent any power from flowing over the circuit until it’s flipped back on.
