A page view may refer to any of the following:

  1. When referring to Internet advertising, a page view is a unique load or view of a text-based file, such as an HTML file. When looking at your website’s statistics, a page view is a better representation of how many unique people are coming to your website. If your statistics list hits and page views, your hits are much greater than your total page views. For example, Computer Hope averages around 7 million unique page views, but averages close to 50 million hits.

To quantify and analyze your page views, we recommend using Google Analytics.

  1. Page view or document view is one of the views available in a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, or another program. See our view buttons definition for further information and examples on this term.
