Virtual PC was first developed in 1997 by Connectix for the Macintosh. Today, Windows Virtual PC usually refers to a Microsoft product that allows different versions of the Windows operating system to run on a single computer. Virtual PC is often used by developers or individuals who need to use more than one version of Windows for testing or older programs not compatible with the newer versions of Windows.
