Initially released as Cool Edit Pro on August 18, 2003, Adobe Audition is a professional DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) application developed by Adobe for Windows and macOS. It is unlike other popular DAW programs, which focus on music production using MIDI instruments. Instead, Adobe Audition includes tools for enhancing and transforming recorded audio for podcasts, foley sound effects, and voice-overs. Features of the program include mastering tools, such as noise removal, amplification, and pitch adjustment, with a library of royalty-free sound effects. Adobe Audition also integrates with the Adobe Premiere Pro video editing software.

Adobe Audition is available as part of the Creative Cloud software bundle, which allows the software to be purchased individually or in a package.
