OpenStack is open-source cloud computing service that started in 2010 when NASA and Rackspace Hosting joined together. This alliance spawned the technology to allow anyone to be able to offer cloud computing services.

OpenStack has several components for different uses, including Nova (cloud computing), Swift (cloud storage), Glance (image delivery/registration), Keystone (identity), and Horizon (dashboard). Many resources are offered to help users install and use OpenStack, such as installation instructions, answers area, a bug reporting area, IRC channels, and mailing lists.
