What Is Cat 1

Cat 1 or Category 1 was first introduced in 1985 and is wiring used to transfer voice data used in telephone services. This wiring was available in unshielded twisted pairs and untwisted. Although Cat 1 is sometimes found with older homes, most modern homes and business are replacing Cat 1 for Cat 3 and Cat 5.
